The Mugello Circuit is not only one of the symbolic venues of international motorsport. The 2025 figures tell the story of a facility capable of generating value, employment and tourism, with an impact extending far beyond the boundaries of the local area. In 2025, the activities of Mugello Circuit Spa generated €205.2 million in production at national level, €149.6 million of which in Tuscany. A result that confirms the strategic role of the Mugello International Circuit for the regional and national economy. The data emerged during the presentation of the study on the economic impact of the Ferrari-owned Tuscan Circuit, carried out through the collaboration between the Centro Studi Turistici di Firenze and IRPET, the Regional Institute for Economic Planning of Tuscany. The conference took place in the Circuit’s press room, immediately after the spectacular on-track parade of the Ferraris that starred in the most glorious decade in the history of the Prancing Horse in Formula 1 (1996 – 2006).
Present at the meeting were Circuit Director Paolo Poli, President of the Tuscany Region Eugenio Giani, Scientific Director of the Centro Studi Turistici di Firenze Alessandro Tortelli, IRPET Research Manager Renato Paniccià and the Councillor of the Municipality of Scarperia e San Piero responsible for the City of Motors, Marco Recati. “The Italian Historic Grand Prix, which comes just a few days after the official announcement of the renewal of the MotoGP Italian Grand Prix at Mugello for the next 5 years, confirms an increasingly attractive calendar,” declared President of the Tuscany Region Eugenio Giani. ‘’The desire to keep the MotoGP World Championship at Mugello also requires support from local authorities and institutions such as the Tuscany Region. Not only that, we would like to strengthen relations further so that institutions can provide support for the circuit’s activities, which see it active for 299 days. The strategic importance of the facility is demonstrated by the recent Study. From 2011 to 2025, the economic impact has risen from €67 million to €205 million, so it is only right that the Region should also play its part’’. “The Italian Historic Grand Prix – this first occasion, we hope, of a long series – confirms the great quality of the Mugello Circuit’s 2026 calendar and joins other major prestigious events such as the Italian Motorcycle Grand Prix and many other races,” declared Circuit Director Paolo Poli. “Added to this is confirmation of the growth trend, also certified by the recent study on the economic impact of 2025, which established an economic impact for Italy and, specifically, for the Tuscany Region, equal to €205 million per year, qualifying the Mugello facility as one of the most productive”.
Alessandro Tortelli, Scientific Director, Centro Studi Turistici di Firenze, and Renato Paniccià, IRPET Research Manager, then illustrated the Study of the Mugello Circuit’s record Impact on the local area.
A circuit that produces value
2025 is confirmed as a year of extraordinary growth for the Mugello Circuit, with unprecedented economic and tourism impacts for Tuscany and the entire country. The Circuit closed the 2025 financial year with revenues exceeding €21.3 million, marking growth of more than 10% and an operating result that more than doubled compared with the previous year. A figure driven not only by motorsport competitions, but also by a strong push toward diversification: “extra racing” events now account for 36% of total revenues. Management efficiency is also demonstrated by the volume of costs incurred in carrying out the activities, which amounted to €16.2 million (+1.4% compared with 2024), of which €4.6 million remained directly within the regional economic system. Of these, 84.2% was captured by businesses in the LLSs (Local Labour Systems) of Borgo San Lorenzo and Florence. With 299 days of activity and 74 events organized (42% of which were international), the facility generated approximately 478,000 total attendances. The MotoGP World Championship remains the flagship event with more than 212,000 spectators, followed by the Ferrari Finali Mondiali.
Tourism and the local area
The tourist flow generated 338,000 overnight stays, 73% of which were concentrated in the Mugello area. Spending by Circuit visitors (excluding tickets) reached €68.6 million, 86% of which was spent directly in the Mugello area. The sectors that benefited most were: accommodation services (56.5% of total spending), food and beverage services (19.2%), transport and communications (6.6%), retail network (4.6%). Overall, the activities of Mugello Circuit Spa generated a production volume of €205.2 million at national level, €149.6 million of which in Tuscany.
A strategic facility for Tuscany
The contribution to national GDP was €100.4 million, while for Tuscany it was €77.5 million. In terms of employment, 1,259 work units were generated in Tuscany (862 in the Local Labour System of Borgo San Lorenzo), generating €18 million in disposable income for Tuscan households.
